North Lamar ISD invites the community to celebrate the legacy of longtime band director Randy Jones at a Band Hall Dedication Ceremony on May 20, 2025 from 5:30 PM to 6:45 PM at North Lamar High School.

The dedication will be followed by a band concert beginning at 7:00 PM. This come-and-go event will include light refreshments as the district pays tribute to a beloved educator and mentor.

Randy Jones served as a band director for more than 35 years, leading North Lamar’s band program to state-level success and earning numerous prestigious awards. His dedication to music education shaped generations of student musicians.

“Mr. Jones retired from North Lamar ISD in June of 2023,” Superintendent Kelli Stewart said. “He instructed many talented musicians at North Lamar High School and Stone Middle School. He instilled in them not only a love for music, but also a sense of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance.

While under his leadership, our high school and middle school bands brought home many awards throughout the years. We are honored to name our new band hall after Mr. Jones.”

Community members, alumni, and former students are encouraged to share memories and photos of Mr. Jones to be displayed at the ceremony. Please send submissions to Melissa Allen at mallen@northlamar.net.
