Paris ISD remembers beloved coach and teacher Randall Lewis

Paris ISD and the community are mourning the loss of a beloved coach and teacher, Randall Lewis, who had been a valued member of the Wildcat family for 23 years.

“We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of a beloved member of our Paris High School family, Randall Lewis. We wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Lewis during this difficult time,” said Paris ISD. 

Lewis grew up in Paris, Texas, and attended Paris High School, The University of Texas, and East Texas State University. He was a beloved teacher and golf coach at his high school alma mater, and working with the students brought him great joy.

“Coach Lewis was an integral member of our staff at Paris High School, having been a valued member of the Wildcat family for 23 years. His contributions to the school and community have been immense, and he will be truly missed by his students, colleagues, and community.”

Those who knew him said he had a true gift for mentoring and guiding students, not only in the classroom or the game of golf, but in life.

“The greatest way to honor Mr. Lewis’ life is to remember him for who he was: a dedicated teacher, a passionate coach, a devoted mentor, and an incredible colleague and friend. Through his unwavering commitment to education, he truly transformed many lives for the better.”

Paris ISD assured the district is dedicated to ensuring support systems are in place in the days ahead for its students, staff and community. Its counselors and staff will be available for any student who may need support during this time.

“Randall will be remembered as an incredible father, husband, son, brother, and friend. His infectious spirit will live on in those lucky enough to have known him.”

Randall’s life will be celebrated on January 15, 2025, at Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Paris, Texas, under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. The visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Paris Education Foundation, P.O. Box 356, Paris, TX 75461.
